This Guided Archery Program class is for X10 Members who have been through a Try Archery class or lessons, and want to practice shooting with a little guidance, or work on specifics from a training plan. Perfect for beginners and seasoned archers to be in a friendly atmosphere where you can shoot and have a coach on hand, if needed.
GAP is also perfect for those who don't want to jump into the competitive environment of JOAD, but are still keen to learn.
Junior GAP (Guided Archery Program) is perfect for archers up to age 18 who are taking lessons and want to brush up on their skills in a group environment without the pressure of timers and scoring as you would experience in JOAD.
Tuesday JGAP
On Tuesdays, the first part of the session is classroom based - in our comfortable lounge area - where Coach Lynda delves into science based learning to provide tools to master the inner self, which - when aligned with the mechanics of the outer self - provides a whole archer approach to learning.
Touching on neuroplasticity, metacognition, intrinsic motivation, reflection, self compassion and more, students become more aware of how they show up - on the shooting line and in life - providing a platform to reach their potential.
The class is rounded out with time on the range to apply the methodologies.
Sunday JGAP
Sundays is all about form and shot execution, often shooting blank bale to keep focus on the process - not the outcome.
NASP / JROTC archers who are in an X10 training program are also welcome to join JGAP on Sundays!
"GAP & JGAP Classes are a great way to develop your archery skills outside of a competitive environment."
X10 Archery Academy membership is required to join GAP/JGAP. These classes are included at no extra cost.
Archers are welcome to use club equipment.
GAP: Prior basic instruction is required to join GAP. This could be a Try Archery class or a lesson for adults.
JGAP: Prior private instruction is required prior to joining JGAP. The coach will determine when the student is ready for JGAP - this could be as little as one lesson, or perhaps more, depending on the age of the archer.
